Injury Woes Hit Super Eagles Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Super Eagles have suffered three fresh injury concerns as the team heads into their final two group FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

The team, currently third in the group with 11 points, will face Lesotho away on October 10 and host Benin Republic on October 14, with their qualification hopes hanging in the balance.

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has been forced to make changes to his initial 23-man squad due to injuries to key players.

Zaidu Sanusi and Christantus Uche have been called up to replace Bright Osayi-Samuel and Cyriel Dessers, respectively.

Sanusi, who has been out of the team for over a year, returns to bolster the defense. His experience from Nigeria’s 2023 AFCON final run is expected to provide stability in the backline.

Meanwhile, Uche, steps in for Dessers, who is nursing an ankle injury.

Adding to Chelle’s concerns, right-back Felix Agu is a major doubt for the upcoming matches after he was forced off with an ankle injury during in a league match over the weekend.
