Injury Delays Kenneth Omeruo’s CFR Cluj Debut

Kenneth Omeruo is yet to make his debut for CFR Cluj after joining the Romanian side at the start of the month.

The Nigeria international has been unable to train with the team or play due to a knee injury he is currently nursing.

He sustained the injury in October 2024 while playing for his former club, Kasımpaşa, during a 3–3 draw against Galatasaray.

Although he returned to full training in January, he never regained match fitness, which eventually led to the termination of his contract with Kasımpaşa in February.

Since arriving at Cluj, Omeruo has missed seven matches. The exact date of his return remains unknown.

Club head coach Dan Petrescu expressed his frustration about Omeruo’s situation three weeks ago, stating:

“He is not ready. I don’t know if you know, but he has a big problem with his knee,” Petrescu said. “We are trying to solve his problem, we are trying to get him back on his feet. When he trains normally with the team, he will have a chance to play. Until then, he cannot train with the team.”

While there is still no clear timeline for his return, the club remains hopeful that Omeruo will recover and join the squad soon.
