I’m Focused on My Game, Not the Noise – Victor Boniface

Werder Bremen forward, Victor Boniface has addressed recent criticism regarding his form.

“I don’t really read things online anymore,” Boniface said. “You never know what’s true or false these days, so I haven’t seen anything about what the coach or anyone has said. I’m still new here to the club, the city, and everything so I’m getting used to it.

“Sometimes in football, you join a team and things click immediately. Here, people say I haven’t scored, but if you actually watch the matches, you’ll see what I bring to the team.

“Take our win against Union Berlin I didn’t score or get an assist, but my contribution was there for everyone to see.”

The striker emphasized that he understands how media narratives often focus only on goals and statistics.

“When you don’t score, people start talking,” he continued. “But trust me, they don’t know what’s really going on. I’ve been through this before. I’m strong anyone who knows me knows that.

“These things don’t affect me. I just keep working hard and trying to improve every day.”

Boniface also admitted that this is his most challenging start to a Bundesliga season since arriving in Germany.

“This is my toughest start since I came here,” he said. “My first season was great, and even in my second season when I missed about 16 to 20 games I still scored eight goals and was the second-highest scorer for Bayer Leverkusen. People called it a bad season, but that’s football.

“A lot of people don’t actually watch the games. The most important thing for me is to stay happy and give my all for the team. There are many things happening behind the scenes that people don’t see.”

Since joining Werder Bremen, Boniface has made seven appearances, starting two matches and providing one assist.

He is yet to find the back of the net but he remains confident that the goals will come soon.

“I’ve been through challenges before, and I always come out stronger. I’ll keep giving everything for the team and for the fans,” he concluded.
