Heineken brings the thrill of Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix to Lagos with an exclusive viewing experience

On Sunday, August 31st, Heineken brought the thrill of Zandvoort to Lagos for the Dutch Grand Prix Viewing Party at Herel Play, Ruxton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. The energy was electric as cold bottles clinked, conversations roared, and for a moment, Ikoyi disappeared. In its place? The thrill of a trackside grandstand, right in the heart of the city.

On screen, Oscar Piastri was in full command, securing his seventh win of the season. His McLaren teammate and title rival, Lando Norris, kept things interesting early on, scrapping with Max Verstappen for second place, until an untimely oil leak forced him to park up. Rookie driver, Isack Hadjar, seized the moment, clinching his first-ever podium and delivering Racing Bulls their first silverware since Pierre Gasly’s Baku triumph in 2021.

The energy inside Herel Play mirrored every twist and turn: gasps at Norris’ retirement, applause at Piastri’s control, and loud cheers for Hadjar’s unexpected breakthrough. It wasn’t just a viewing; it was a shared adrenaline rush. Adding more colour to the afternoon were former BBN stars, Saga and Sheggz, who turned heads as they joined in the fun and showed fans the proper way to pour a glass of Heineken, complete with that signature golden foam head. Other notable guests also brought electrifying energy to the event, with popular hypeman Big Bimi keeping spirits in overdrive with his trademark hype, keeping the energy levels stayed in fifth gear long after the cars slowed down.

Then came the afterparty, as DJ Tohbahd turned the venue into a dance floor. The bottles stayed frosty, as the energy shifted seamlessly from race tactics to shouted lyrics and raised toasts to a Sunday well spent. It was premium Lagos energy at its best, the kind of vibe that lingers well into Monday morning.
