Getafe president Ángel Torres is reportedly at loggerheads with Christantus Uche over the midfielder’s future.
The Spanish club is keen to sell the Nigerian this summer as they look to generate profit in the current transfer window.
Uche is one of the most valuable assets in the squad and a key candidate for sale.
Getafe have received interest from Premier League clubs including Aston Villa, Everton, and Newcastle United.
Serie A sides are also interested in the player. Despite the options available, the 22 year-old is yet to make a final decision—but it is understood that he favours a move to England over Italy.
Uche’s indecision has reportedly left the club’s president furious. Speaking to Ceuta TV, Torres said:
“Uche doesn’t even know what he wants. It all depends on how he feels when he wakes up. Tomorrow [today], if he comes in, we’ll talk to him. It’s clear he wants to go to the Premier League. He has offers from Italy, but for some reason, he prefers the Premier League. He’ll tell us.”
Getafe signed Uche from Ceuta in 2023 for €500,000. The midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in 34 appearances.
He was arguably Getafe’s standout performer and has since seen his market value rise to between €15 million and €30 million. His contract includes a €25 million release clause, while Ceuta retain a 20% sell-on fee.
Uche plays primarily as a central midfielder.
