Everton are in the market for a forward following their 1–0 loss on Monday to newly promoted Leeds United.
The club currently has only four recognized forwards: Beto, Iliman Ndiaye, Thierno Barry, and Jack Grealish.
There are several attacking players on Everton’s shortlist, and one of them is Christantus Uche.
Originally a midfielder, the Nigerian has transitioned into a forward capable of playing as a striker or attacking midfielder.
His versatility would suit David Moyes’ tactical setup well, with the Everton manager known for switching between formations such as 4-4-2, 5-4-1, 4-2-3-1, and 3-4-3.
Everton are preparing a €30 million offer to test Getafe’s willingness to sell. Uche scored and assisted in the club’s opening game of the season against Celta Vigo.
Getafe manager Pepe Bordalás told the press on Monday that Uche is expected to stay:
“He is our player. We have complete confidence in him. We knew he would be important today — and he was. His level doesn’t surprise us. Right now, he’s a Getafe player, and we trust that he’ll stay here.”
Although Getafe do not want to lose Uche, they could be forced to sell due to player registration issues.
The club needs funds to register new signings under La Liga’s financial regulations.
Uche has been linked with a move away from Getafe since the start of the transfer window, attracting interest from clubs in Italy, the Premier League, and other La Liga sides.
