Former Nigeria international, Greg Etafia has called on the CHAN Eagles players to elevate their performances ahead of their crucial fixture against Sudan.
The former Super Eagles goalkeeper stressed the significance of the tournament for their national team futures.
Etafia emphasized that the 2024 CHAN competition offers an important platform for players to stake their claim for a senior team spot ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
“We give advantage to the home-based players because this tournament leads to the AFCON in December. One or two good players usually stand out, and the coaches can add them to the senior team. So, this is a major chance for home-based players to do well,” Etafia said.
He added that an early exit would be detrimental to the players’ prospects with the senior national team.
The Super Eagles are set to face Sudan on Tuesday at 6 PM Nigerian time at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
