Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has pleaded with fans to come out – in their numbers – to cheer the team on in their crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
“I want to thank Nigerians for their support. I want to ask them to continue to encourage us, to be in the stadium on Saturday, and to be praying for us and everyone else in Nigeria.
“We know the gravity of the game on Saturday, and we are going to be focused on preparation. I think that’s the thing that is going to give us confidence for the game,” he said.
He also commended Benjamin, applauding his development and growth, while giving credit to Moses Simon for his role in the youngster’s development.

“Benjamin is a humble, hardworking, very talented defender. I think we are all really impressed with what he showed us in the Unity Cup — it’s not easy at all, so I think big credit to him.
“I know how hard he has worked, and also big credit to my teammate Moses Simon for giving him the opportunity, taking him to his academy before he went to Brentford.
“These are the things we love to see. We have a talented player who is going to be the future of Nigerian football, and we have Simon who has given him the opportunity to play professional football and be a Super Eagle.

“It’s an amazing story, and I am looking forward to seeing him continue his development and becoming important for the team.”
Meanwhile, Saturday’s match will mark Troost-Ekong’s 80th cap for Nigeria since earning his debut in 2015.
The 32-year-old is expected to lead the team when Nigeria hosts Rwanda in the crucial World Cup qualifier.
