In the second set, Djokovic’s old self began to return, as he opened up the court with his forehand. Despite being broken in the fifth game, Djokovic assumed dominance and control, breaking on three occasions to win the set in 36 minutes.

The third set saw Djokovic maintain his stranglehold on the match, breaking Carballes Baena’s serve in the fifth game to further increase his control.
Carballes Baena’s frustration grew as he was unable to threaten Djokovic or outlast him in the longer rallies, with another early break of serve doing the damage for the world number one.
Despite a late show of defiance from Carballes Baena, Djokovic steadied the ship, and a forehand into the net from the Spaniard secured a comfortable performance.
