Crisis-hit Libya FA Delay Salary Payment to Coach Aliou Cissé

Aliou Cissé, the head coach of Libya, is reportedly been owed six months of salary by the Libyan Football Federation (LFF), as the federation struggles with a serious financial crisis.

Cissé was only able to receive his first six months of salary thanks to public funds allocated to the LFF.

His contract stipulates a monthly salary of €76,000, which amounts to approximately €912,000 annually.

Abdulmola Al-Maghribi, LFF President, openly acknowledged the financial difficulties the federation is experiencing, confirming that these challenges have made it impossible to pay the coach on time.

“The Federation has delayed payment of the national team coach and his staff’s salaries for eight months due to financial constraints,” Al-Maghribi stated.

Cissé took over the Libyan national team in March 2025, signing a two-year deal that includes an option for a third year, contingent on the team’s performance, specifically qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
