The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened an investigation into incidents of potentially unacceptable behaviour during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco (AFCON 2025) quarter-final matches involving Cameroon vs Morocco and Algeria vs Nigeria.
CAF Refers Cases to Disciplinary Board
In an official statement, CAF confirmed that it has collected recent match reports as well as video evidence relating to the incidents, which allegedly involved some players and officials during the two high-profile quarter-final fixtures.
Following a preliminary review, CAF has referred the matters to its Disciplinary Board for further investigation.
The continental body stated that appropriate action would be taken should any of the individuals identified be found guilty of wrongdoing.

Media Conduct Also Under Review
CAF also disclosed that it is reviewing video footage of a separate incident involving members of the media, who allegedly misbehaved in the mixed zone area after the matches.
The governing body emphasized that the investigation would cover all aspects of the reported incidents to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity of its competitions.
Zero Tolerance for Inappropriate Behaviour
CAF strongly condemned any form of inappropriate conduct during its matches, particularly actions directed at match officials or tournament organizers.
The organization further announced that sanctions would be pursued against anyone whose actions fall short of the professional standards expected at CAF events.
