Gareth Bale Announces Retirement From Football as he posted on social media, “After serious and thoughtful reflection, I announce my immediate retirement from the club and international football.” Prior to joining Los Angeles FC last summer, the 33-year-old played for Southampton, Tottenham, and Real Madrid.
In addition, he played 111 times for Wales and took them to their first World Cup in 64 years.
At the age of 33, Gareth Bale declared his retirement from the game of professional football. The player, who has played for Real Madrid, Tottenham, Southampton, and Wales before joining Los Angeles FC in the summer of 2022, released a message on social media to justify his choice.
He wrote, “I declare my immediate retirement from the club and international football after thorough and thoughtful thinking.”
“I consider myself tremendously lucky to have realized my dream of participating in the sport I adore. I can honestly say that it has given me some of my best memories.” No matter what the next chapter has for me, it will be hard to match the highest of highs over the course of 17 seasons.”
Bale made his decision just one month after leading Wales to their first World Cup appearance in 64 years. He has 111 caps for Wales and is their all-time greatest appearance-maker and scorer with 41 goals.
He added, “Retiring from international football has been, by far, the hardest choice of my career.” “My experience on the world stage has altered not only my life but also who I am.
“Being Welsh and being chosen to represent and captain Wales has given me an opportunity unlike anything else I’ve had.

Gareth Bale Statement
“I am honored and humbled to have had the opportunity to contribute to the history of this magnificent nation, to have experienced the love and support of the red wall, and to have traveled to unexpected and amazing locations with them.”
At the age of 16, Bale made his first team debut after graduating from Southampton’s academy.
His initial move to Tottenham in 2007 didn’t go as planned because he lost all 24 of his Premier League games.
But Bale’s form improved, and in 2010, he made a memorable play.
After a sensational 2012–13 season in which he scored 21 Premier League goals for Spurs, he proceeded to grow into one of the most intriguing players in Europe and earned several individual honors.
Bale’s performance led to a world-record transfer to Real Madrid that summer for a cost of £100.8 million (£85.1 million).
