Game MVP Chasson Randle starred with 15 points and 10 assists as APR cruised to a 104-73 quarterfinal victory over Rivers Hoopers at the BAL.
Randle credited his approach to a team-first mentality, stating his intent to represent both APR and Rwanda with pride.
“My mindset first and foremost was just to come out here, play hard, represent APR, represent Rwanda, and get a win. We did that.”

“We did it from the beginning of the game, played hard, and we came out with a win, but the job’s not finished.”
“We have another game coming up here soon, and now the preparation starts for that.”
“I just try to bring my experience, my skill set, and leadership. When I step on the floor, try to be a great teammate and play the game the best way I can.”
Head Coach James Maye Jr Lauds Team Execution and Speed of Play
APR head coach James Maye Jr said he is satisfied with his team’s execution, especially in implementing their game plan to overcome the Nigerian champions.
“I do think we played very, very well. Game planning, I think we did a great job being intentional throwing the ball inside.”
“That was part of our preparation. I think our team always does a great job of… strong offensive rebounding team.”
“I thought he did a great job of balancing when we’re running and when we’re slowing down.”
“So that was a big part of our preparation — making sure that we could get him involved as well in certain areas.”
APR now shift their attention to the semi-finals, aiming to continue their push toward a maiden BAL title.
