Newsypeople- Andy Murray, the three-time Grand Slam champion, has suffered a major injury scare ahead of Wimbledon after being forced to retire from his second-round match at the Queen’s Club against Australian world number 90 Jordan Thompson.

Murray was trailing 4-1 in the first set when he pulled out of the match, having received treatment around the lower back area and hips after just three games.

This latest setback comes as a major blow to Murray’s preparations for Wimbledon, which is set to begin on July 1. The 37-year-old Scot was hoping to use the Queen’s Club tournament as a warm-up for what is expected to be his last appearance at the Grand Slam.

However, the injury has cast doubt over his participation at Wimbledon, where he has won the title twice, in 2013 and 2016.

Despite the injury scare, Andy Murray has shown signs of a resurgence in recent months. At the Wimbledon warm-up event at the Hurlingham Club, he suffered another injury scare, pulling out of an exhibition match against Lucas Pouille due to a “sore hip”.

However, the decision was described as a precautionary measure, with Murray still planning to play a second match against an unnamed opponent on Friday.

In a dramatic turn of events, Murray’s Wimbledon campaign took an unexpected twist as he faced off against world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas in a late-night thriller on Centre Court. Murray lost the opening set in a tiebreak but roared back to take the next two sets, leading 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 6-4 when play was halted due to the 11pm curfew at the All-England Club.

The match will resume on Friday, with Murray holding the advantage. However, the Brit’s dramatic comeback was marred by a nasty slip that left him screaming in pain and clutching his left groin.

Despite the injury scare, Murray managed to pick himself up and serve out the third set, much to the delight of the home crowd.
