2026 FIFA World Cup: Nwabali Hopeful of Super Eagles Will Qualify

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali remains optimistic about the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C, six points behind group leaders South Africa.

Nwabali, who made his debut at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and started every game as Nigeria reached the final, currently captains South African club Chippa United.

When asked about Nigeria’s qualification hopes, the 27-year-old emphasized that being a big footballing nation doesn’t guarantee results, but expressed belief in the team’s potential to turn things around.

“It is football. Just because we are Nigeria doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to win every game.

You can see we still have a lot of chances to qualify, despite where we are on the table.

We’re going to push in our next game, take it one game at a time, and we’ll see how our next four games go.”
