Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos has confirmed changes to his squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.
Sipho Mbule has been called up as a replacement for Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi, who was forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury on Monday.
The Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder has since joined the team in their training session.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC defender Thabo Moloisane has earned a late call-up, replacing Hannover 96 centre-back Ime Okon.
His inclusion comes as Broos seeks to bolster defensive options, with the team short on international experience.
The South African defenders will be tasked with containing a dangerous Nigerian frontline.
Siyabonga Ngezana, who currently plies his trade in Romania with FCSB, arrived in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning from Bucharest.
The former Kaizer Chiefs defender traveled in business class to join his international teammates for the FIFA break.
Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala has vowed to work hard to cement his place in the national team, while he and Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng trained together as part of Broos’ preparations.
England-based player Luke Le Roux (Portsmouth) has also linked up with the squad and is ready to represent Bafana Bafana.
With crucial qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria looming, Broos’ reshuffled squad will look to maintain their top spot in Group C on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
