Insecurity: Yobe state government shuts down boarding schools

In a bid to stem the tide of k!dnappings happening across the country, the Yobe state government has ordered the closure of all boarding Secondary Schools in the state.

 

Mamman Mohammed, Director-General to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Press and Media Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday,November 23. He mentioned that the decision was taken at a security meeting between the governor and Security chiefs in the state.

 

“A notice signed by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr.Bukar Aji Bukar, directed immediate closure of all secondary schools pending improvement in the situation.

Governor Buni called on the people of the state to pray for the leadership, security operatives, peace and improved security in the country.”

 

Following the kidnapping of students in Kebbi and Niger state, the Federal Government on Thursday ordered the closure of 41 Unity Schools, while the governments of Kwara, Niger, Plateau, Katsina, Taraba, have since reviewed school operations in their states as part of proactive measures to prevent further security breeches.
