The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has issued a directive, banning physical interactions and private conversations between persons of opposite genders in commercial tricycles, motorcycles and at public gatherings, stressing that such activities contradict the teachings of Sharia.
The Commission made this known in a statement on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
According to the statement, the directive comes from the office of the State Commander of the Hisbah Commission, Dr. Muhammad Yawudi Kale, with the approval of the Chairman of the Yobe State Hisbah Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar.
“The Yobe State Hisbah Commission wishes to inform the public and issue a warning regarding activities that contradict the teachings of Sharia,” the statement read.
Among the matters the Commission is cautioning against are:
1. Reckless driving or moving in vehicles, especially in public during weddings or Sallah celebrations.
