Orode Uduaghan, the daughter of former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has questioned the relevance of foreign languages like French and German languages in the Nigerian school curriculum.
Orode, who is the Delta State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, said she has never used one word of French she learnt since she graduated high school 20 years ago.
“Still wondering why we have French, German etc as part of our Nigerian curriculum,” she wrote in her Instagram story on Monday, October 13.
“Not sure if there is Itsekiri or Hausa in any French or German high school.
”And nobody should tell me they are ‘major languages’ Major languages for who?
“Graduated high school 20 years ago and I haven’t used one word of French I learned to survive.
“We are just adding to the stress these kids go through,” she added.
Recall that the Federal Government recently approved the introduction of the Chinese language into the Senior Secondary School curriculum.
