Mingus Reedus, the 25-year-old son of “Walking Dead” actor Norman Reedus and supermodel Helena Christensen, was spotted outside his New York City apartment Sunday, August 24, a day after his arrest for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, asking reporters, “You want to watch me kill myself?”
The model, dressed in the same green shorts and black T-shirt he wore to court, carried his cat in a bag as he walked near his apartment. He also called a reporter “ugly” while leaving Manhattan Criminal Court on Saturday, August 23.
Police allege that Mingus punched his 33-year-old girlfriend in the leg, choked her, and slammed her to the ground at their Manhattan apartment. He faces multiple charges including criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, reckless physical injury, aggravated harassment, and second-degree harassment. Mingus has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

His attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said, “He is concerned for his girlfriend. The relationship ended roughly five months ago, which allegedly caused the victim to take a number of sleeping pills in an attempt to commit suicide.” She added, “The victim has since moved out of their shared home, is not afraid of Mingus, and has no interest in proceeding with the case or pressing charges.”
A court order now requires Mingus to stay away from the victim.
Mingus, who has modeled professionally since 2017, is the only child of Reedus and Christensen, who split in 2003 but have maintained a friendly co-parenting relationship. Norman Reedus is currently engaged to actress Diane Kruger, and the couple share a daughter, Nova Tennessee.
