Two women, Funke Aire, 50, and Divine Richard, 27, have been charged by the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged abduction of a 13-year-old girl Zubaida Ibrahim, in Lagos.
They both, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Edet Ekpo told the Court that the defendant committed the offences on March 12, at about 9:23 p.m, at Agbomimo by First Storey Building, in Badagry, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendants conspired to abduct a 13-year-old girl without her parents’ consent.
Ekpo said that the defendants were eventually apprehended by some people who handed them over to the police for prosecution.
The duo, whose addresses were not provided, were charged with bordering on conspiracy and abduction.
The prosecutor said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 268 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He ordered that one of the sureties must be a company director or a community leader.
The court adjourned the case until April 23 for mention.
