
Security operatives in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have arrested two men accused of supplying food and other logistic items to bandits hiding in the forest.
The suspects, identified as Abayo David and David Bori, both from Itedo-Ijowa, Isanlu in Yagba East LGA, were apprehended around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 by members of the Yagba West Hunters and Vigilante Group during a routine patrol.
The operatives recovered various items suspected to be intended for criminal gangs operating within the forest.
Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, Chief Press Secretary, Yagba West Local Government Council, who confirmed the development in a statement said the arrest follows a local government directive prohibiting the sale and transport of goods to criminals.
Preliminary investigations reveal the suspects’ accomplices fled and are being tracked by security operatives.
“Last week, an okada rider working for a bandit group was k!lled while attempting a similar delivery, highlighting the dangers of aiding criminal networks,” the statement read.
“Hon. Tosin Olokun, Executive Chairman of Yagba West LGA, warned residents, food vendors, and transport operators to desist from supporting criminal elements, emphasizing that such acts endanger lives and undermine collective security.
“He commended security agencies for dismantling several criminal hideouts and urged continued vigilance and cooperation from citizens.”
