
Two men have been arrested for allegedly dumping refuse along the Ikorodu-Itowolo highway in Lagos.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who disclosed this on X, said the suspects were arrested and transferred to the Lagos state Environmental and Special Offences Task Force office. He said the vehicles used to commit the illegal act have been impounded at the LAWMA office.
He mentioned that the suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
‘’In the early hours of Tuesday, 11th June 2025, officers of the Monitoring and Compliance Department of LAWMA apprehended individuals found illegally dumping refuse by the roadside along the Ikorodu–Itowolo highway.
The culprits were immediately arrested and transferred to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Task Force office in Oshodi for further processing. The vehicle used in the illegal activity was impounded and is currently secured at LAWMA Ogudu office.
Both offenders have been handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps for prosecution in line with the provisions of the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law, 2017.”
