Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks on Buratai and Mallam Fatori in Borno State, killing numerous insurgents and recovering a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

In a statement released on Thursday,June 5, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, confirmed that the foiled attacks occurred on June 5, 2025. He praised the combined efforts of ground troops and the operation’s air component, which delivered overwhelming firepower to neutralize the threat.

“In yet another coordinated effort by the ground forces and Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), scores of terrorists have been neutralised, with assorted arms and ammunition recovered, in a foiled attack on troops in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area and Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Areas of Borno State,” the statement read.

According to Captain Kovangiya, the terrorists attempted to breach military positions in Buratai during the early hours, launching an assault from multiple directions. Troops responded swiftly with intense gunfire, while air support targeted the insurgents from above.

Multiple dead bodies of insurgents were discovered following the confrontation. Among the recovered weapons were AK-47 rifles, General Purpose Machine Guns, Rocket Propelled Grenades, and other combat gear used by the terrorists.

He added that troops pursued fleeing militants, continuing offensive operations to clear the area and reinforce military dominance. “The coordinated efforts of the ground forces and Air Component demonstrate the military’s commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action,” he said.

The Nigerian Army stated that operations in the region are ongoing, with continued air surveillance and ground maneuvers aimed at dismantling remaining terrorist elements.
