Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about her past and present relationships, shedding light on why her first marriage to fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson ended — and how she eventually found happiness with her current husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi.
In a recent interview with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Toyin revealed that her family had strong reservations about her first marriage. Despite warnings and concerns from loved ones, she chose to go ahead with the union, which eventually lasted for about two years.
“My family actually prayed and got signs that it wouldn’t work,” she said. “But I didn’t listen. I went ahead.”
However, the actress spoke warmly about her current marriage to Ajeyemi, describing it as a relationship grounded in love, mutual respect, and spiritual connection.
“In real life, he is very calm. He is a prayer warrior. Whenever I go to Abeokuta, he is always there,” she shared.
She said their bond grew gradually as they spent more time together on set and began supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Eventually, they decided to keep their relationship low-key until it became serious.
“I didn’t want anyone to know at first, but I started getting fond of him. I’d tag along when he was going to work. Then we introduced ourselves to our families, I got pregnant, and marriage followed,” she explained.
Toyin said she is grateful for the peace and joy she has found in her marriage.
“I come from a Christian home, so my family prayed and God confirmed he was the one. Trust me, I married one of the best. I won’t say the best because there are other marriages I admire, like my godmother’s, but my husband is definitely one of the best.”
