Four people were caught red-handed engaging in s3x in public at night in Southlea Park, Harare, Zimbabwe, leading to their arrest and subsequent fines for disorderly conduct.

The group included three women, Mellisa Mapanga (23), Rutendo Joseph (27), and Elsie Mupesa (22) , who identified themselves as s3x workers, along with their client, Takura Pedzisai (35).

According to H-Metro, the arrests occurred on June 9 around 9 PM after Constable Precious Manyimbiri of ZRP Southlea Park received a tip-off. She was accompanied by Sergeant Dohwe and Constables Mutume and Shoko. Upon arrival, they found the individuals engaging in lula lula and immediately took them into custody. A formal police report was later filed.

At the Mbare Magistrate’s Court, the four pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct. The women explained they were involved in s3x work as their sole means of survival.

Magistrate Tatenda Mukurunga fined each woman US$50 or 45 days in prison if the fine was not paid. Pedzisai received a stiffer fine of US$100, with the court citing aggravating factors including his marital status and the fact that his wife is pregnant.

Magistrate Mukurunga emphasized the importance of public decency and warned that such offenses in public spaces would be prosecuted firmly in the future.
