The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, has denied claims that the Nigerian team to the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, were handed inferior kits.
Â
LIB had earlier reported that former world champion and women’s 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, called out the Nigerian government over the ‘’poor kits” she and fellow athletes were handed before they departed for the championship currently holding in Japan. read here

Reacting to her claims, Dikko in an interview with Channels TV this morning, said;
‘’Those kits are not inferior or whatever people are trying to say, If you look at other countries, they are using similar kits. It is just probably about the packaging because it was not put in a box or not bought in bulk.Â
I don’t want to go into Tobi, she is our star athlete, I respect her alot and we honor her alot. She did the video. It is what it is but it is not the case.”
Dikko also responded to claims that the Nigerian delegation to the championship comprised more of government officials than athletes.
