Suspected ritual k!ller arrested for attempted m8rder of woman in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected ritual k!ller over attempted m8rder of a woman in Etche Local Government Area of the state. 

 

 

A community leader in Etche LGA, Kingsley Nwanyanwu, who spoke to newsmen said the suspect identified as Iheanyi Asobirionwu from Ndashi in Etche, was arrested by operatives of a local vigilante group known as the “Ulakwo Etche Special Squads” for allegedly attempting to strangle Vicky Nweke to d3ath.

 

 

Nwanyanwu, who is also the CDC Chairman of Amakumba community, said that Asobirionwu, who works with some internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo boys, attacked the woman in Obite Etche, where he resides. 

 

 

The suspect reportedly choked her until she collapsed. 

 

 

Believing she was d3ad, he left the scene to retrieve a machete to sit her throat. 

 

 

However, luck ran out for him and the woman managed to escape and alert residents, including members of the local vigilante group.

 

 

Nwanyanwu further stated that the suspect has been handed over to the Okehi Police Division and urged the police to ensure justice is served. 

 

“We are urging the security agencies, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to make sure there would be proper interrogation and investigation for him to be able to mention those who are behind, because he was sent according to his confession, he was sent by people, so that he would mention those who are involved,” he added. 

 

The spokesperson of the command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated that investigation is ongoing.
