Suspected bandits invade Osun community, abduct two residents

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted two residents of Ora-Igbomina, an Osun community located on the boundary with Kwara State.

 

The gunmen stormed the community at some minutes to midnight on Sunday, February 1, 2026, went straight to a private residence along Aran-Orin Road, Papa, Ora-Igbomina and kidnapped the victims.

 

The latest abduction occurred less than two months after suspected bandits abducted an ex-Customs officer, Emmanuel Owolabi, in the community.

 

The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, who confirmed the incident said operatives have commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims.

 

“The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m on Sunday. Our men who went for patrol but went back to their base when the rain started to fall. It was during that period that those people perpetrated that evil act,” the PPRO said. 

 

“Tayese Adeyeye and Sunday Adewumi were abducted. The search and rescue teams moved in immediately after the report got to us. They have been combing the area.”
