A Somali‑born Dutch national wanted in the UK has been arrested in Germany after stepping off a plane. The 26‑year‑old suspect was detained at Frankfurt am Main Airport by federal police officers, moments after arriving on a long‑haul flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Authorities confirmed he had been the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the UK in December 2023.
German police said in a statement that the man is accused of having repeatedly r@ped his 13‑year‑old stepsister in 2020 while living in the UK. He was taken into custody at the airport and brought before a custody judge in Frankfurt. His name has not been released. Investigators noted that because the suspect has the right to contest extradition, the process of transferring him to UK authorities could take between 10 and 60 days, which is standard in such cases.

The arrest comes amid wider scrutiny of migrant‑related criminal cases. Just days earlier, hotel worker Mehmet Ogur was jailed for seven years in the UK after being found guilty of r@pe and attempted r@pe. Ogur had contacted his victim via Snapchat before meeting her at Tamworth Castle in Staffordshire. The victim later told the court the attack had “completely destroyed” her life, saying “part of me wishes you’d killed me.”
Earlier this month, Afghan migrant Abid Sherzad was also convicted of s3xual ass@ult after targeting a woman who had fallen asleep while eating pizza following a night out. The 25‑year‑old struck after buying his victim the takeaway meal. German authorities say investigations into the Somali‑born suspect remain ongoing, and further updates will be provided as extradition proceedings develop.
