‘Single mother stigma only applies to poor women’

?Single mother stigma only applies to poor women? - BBN star Mercy Eke says she won?t mind having children outside marriage

Reality TV star Mercy Eke has shared her views on motherhood and marriage, saying she wouldn’t have a problem welcoming a child outside wedlock if life takes her in that direction.

Speaking on a recent podcast, the Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner said it’s not something she’s actively pursuing, but if she ever gets pregnant before marriage, she would keep the baby.

Mercy explained that she hopes to have three children — preferably girls — and made it clear that marriage isn’t a requirement for her to start a family.

She went on to say that society’s stigma toward single mothers doesn’t apply to women who are doing well, insisting that many successful single mothers still have men seeking to marry them.

According to her, “the problem is only for women who don’t have things going well.”

Mercy added that she has suitors but hasn’t found what she personally wants in a man, and even if she became a single mother, it wouldn’t stop her from getting married if she chose to.
