A Nigerian man, Dr. Charles Apoki, has celebrated his wife, Felicia on her birthday with a glimpse into their heartwarming love story which began at the University of of Ibadan.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 26, the 1984 graduate of the College of Medicine, revealed that his wife accepted to marry him despite knowing he was a homeless son of a security man, who wore borrowed shoes and clothes.
Akpoti said she wasn’t discouraged when she met his parents, who lived in a mud house with no electricity, pipe-borne water, and toilets.
Sharing a throwback photo of them taken 44 years ago, he urged his followers to celebrate and pray for his wife who took the “risk in marrying a rascal then.”
“This picture is about 44 years old. It was taken in 1981 when I was 22 and she was 20. We went to visit the University of Ibadan Zoo. We took this Polaroid picture on our way back. Memories are like diamonds.
My wife knew when we met that I was a homeless stranger; I wore borrowed shoes and borrowed clothes and she was aware.
Why did she agree to marry me?
I even deceived her that I was a northerner, hence Apoki, but she did not bother.
When she first met my parents before they moved to my village, Otokutu, they were living in a mud house at Okere, a ghetto with no electricity, pipe-borne water, toilets. There was literally nothing to excite today’s young girls. My father was a security man in Idama Hotel, then, and we used to go visit him in the gatehouse.
Why was she not discouraged? Please pray for that girl, celebrating her birthday today, that had faith in a homeless stranger, Pastor Mrs. Felicia Apoki, that she will live long to eat the fruits of her risk in marrying a rascal then.
