A Bolivian Cup quarter-final clash between Blooming and Real Oruro ended in absolute chaos after the final whistle, leading the referee to issue a staggering 17 red cards following a huge brawl involving players and staff from both sides.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw in the Copa Bolivia quarter-finals, meaning Blooming advanced to the semi-finals thanks to their 2-1 victory in the first leg. However, the action on the pitch was completely overshadowed by the violent scenes that erupted just moments after the match concluded.
In video clips that went viral on social media, players from both teams are seen coming together in a huge crowd, where staff members and players began throwing punches. The widespread violence became so severe that police present at the game were forced to use tear gas to stop the disorder.
Reports indicate the unsavoury scenes began when Oruro star Sebastian Zeballos was held back by Blooming players, broke free, and began pushing. His teammate Julio Vila also threw punches, triggering the chaotic free-for-all. Amidst the melee, Oruro coach Marcelo Robledo confronted another coach, was pushed, and fell backward. Approximately 20 police officers were eventually required to intervene around the pitch, and Blooming coach Mauricio Soria took his players into the dressing room to calm them down.

The post-match report confirms a total of 17 dismissals. Referee Renan Castillo showed seven red cards to Blooming players and four to Oruro players. The remaining dismissals were given to staff, including both head coaches, Robledo and Soria, and their assistants. Blooming forward Cesar Menacho had already been sent off earlier in the game for offensive language.
The chaos stemmed from Oruro’s frustration at failing to qualify for the semi-finals despite needing only one more goal to force penalties. Reports claim that Coach Robledo suffered a shoulder injury and a blow to his head during the brawl and required hospitalization, and a Blooming official allegedly suffered a fractured cheekbone.
The referee is expected to send his match report to the Sports Disciplinary Tribunal in Bolivia for further action regarding the mass misconduct.
