Police officer who starred in popular UK TV show banned from force after inappropriate texts including 20 sexist and racist photos

A police officer who appeared on UK’s Channel 5 series Motorway Cops: Catching Britain’s Speeders has been permanently barred from the force after being found guilty of gross misconduct.

PC Andrew Doran, who served with Cheshire Police, resigned before a disciplinary panel concluded he had sent and stored sexist, racist and discriminatory messages on his personal phone between 2018 and 2025. The panel also found he was in possession of a video described as “extreme p0rnography.”

During the misconduct hearing, it was revealed Doran sent 17 sexist images and received nine, sent three racist pictures while receiving 11, and shared other offensive and discriminatory content. One of the images he circulated amounted to a criminal offence.

The material, described as “offensive, improper, and discriminatory,” was said to demonstrate a clear lack of integrity and respect. The hearing was told: “You have behaved in such a manner as to discredit Cheshire Police, and the police service as a whole, thereby impacting public trust and confidence in policing.”

Chief Constable Mark Roberts, who chaired the hearing, ruled that Doran’s actions amounted to gross misconduct. He said the former officer would have been dismissed without notice had he not resigned, and has now been placed on the barred list, preventing him from rejoining the police service in the future.

Roberts added there was “no explanation” or “excuse” for the disgraced officer’s behaviour, describing it as “totally unacceptable.
