An Essex woman has received £3,500 in compensation after police bodycam footage showed officers laughing at her s3x toys and lingerie during a raid on her home.
Nichola Corr, 51, said Suffolk Police searched her property in October 2023 as part of a drugs investigation involving a family member, but the search led to what she described as “disgusting” behaviour from officers. She claimed they acted “like children in a playground,” tossing her underwear between them and mocking her collection of erotic items worth around £1,000.
According to Corr, a G-string was left neatly placed on her pillow, while officers could be heard on camera joking that some of the items were “sticky.” She said she only discovered the full extent of the behaviour after requesting the bodycam footage. “They were taking the absolute piss. It was like they were children in a playground, the way they were acting,” she said.
The incident, Corr added, contributed to the breakdown of her marriage, leaving her traumatised and diminishing her sex life.
Suffolk Police confirmed its Professional Standards Department investigated the complaint and found the behaviour to be “unacceptable and unprofessional,” though it concluded it stemmed more from immaturity than malice. No formal disciplinary action was taken. Two officers who remained in service were placed on reflective practice and offered written and verbal apologies, while one officer left the force before the complaint was lodged.
A force spokesperson said: “A box containing s3x toys was found, which was subject to comment and laughter from the officers, but at no point do they touch or play with the items. The underwear appeared to be moved in jest, without any thought given for the upset this could cause to the owner.”
Corr said she no longer trusts the police following the ordeal, accusing the officers of abusing their power.
