The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two unidentified persons for being in possession of human parts in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Emenari Ifeanyi, disclosed this on Thursday, November 6, 2025 in Makurdi, the state capital, during a press conference.
Ifeanyi stated that the suspects were arrested on October 22 in Okpokwu LGA by the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, and handed over the suspects to the police.
“The suspects were arrested for being in possession of a human head, lap, and heart,” the CP said, adding that they had been charged to court after investigation.
Ifeanyi further said that between mid-September and the end of October, 181 suspects were arrested in connection with armed robbery, cultism, banditry, culpable homicide, and illegal possession of firearms.
The CP added that within this period, 14 incidents of homicide, 12 armed robberies, four kidnappings, 16 banditry and terrorism-related incidents and three cult-related incidents were recorded in the state.
He said a total of 15 firearms, 67 rounds of ammunition/cartridges, and three stolen vehicles were recovered, and 23 kidnapped victims were rescued
Sustained clearance operations and raids on bandit hideouts in the Sankera axis (Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo LGAs) led to the arrest of over 70 suspects linked to banditry
“These operations have disrupted criminal networks, destroyed camps, and facilitated the return of locals to their homes and farms. Coordinated raids on criminal black spots in Otukpo and Ohimini LGAs on 25th October led to the arrest of 39 suspected armed robbers believed to be part of a gang that had previously attacked security personnel,” he said.
Ifeanyi further emphasised that a total of 445 officers and men have been promoted within the command.
He commended other security agencies, particularly Operation Whirl Stroke, the Benue State Civil Protection Guards and sister agencies for their continuous synergy to bring peace and order in the state.
