The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that some associates of 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, are in discussions to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Bwala stated this during an interview on TVC on Monday, May 6, that one of Obi’s key handlers has already joined the APC, while another is currently in talks with party leaders. He also disclosed that one of Obi’s media aides has expressed interest in defecting to the ruling party.
“Governors are joining our party independently, but what’s more significant is that key figures from the last presidential election are also coming in,” Bwala said. “
For example, one of Peter Obi’s handlers is already with us, and another is currently in discussions. Even one of his media spokesmen is considering it.”
According to Bwala, their interest is not driven by financial incentives, but by a belief in the current administration’s intentions.
“No one is giving them money. They’re coming because, while we’re not perfect, they see that our heart is in the right place, our head is clear, and we are working to build a national consensus,” he said.
