President Donald Trump has ordered flags to be flown at half mast in the US.
“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.,” he says in a social media post.
Police are still looking for the attacker and are going “building to building” to evacuate people. A suspect was taken into custody but later released.
Multiple sources say the shot was fired from an academic building around 100-200 yards away. Kirk’s wife and two young children were on campus, a senator says.

As Trump and other Americans mourn him, a number of Americans took to X to reshare old tweets posted by Kirk, opposing gun ban by the Biden administration.
In one tweet, Kirk wrote: “Joe Biden wants to ban ‘magazines that hold multiple bullets’.
“That would ban nearly every gun in America – including a majority of pistols
“These are the people coming for your guns:
“Zero understanding of how they work but never in doubt of their views.”

“Today, Joe Biden is going to layout his plans to take your gun away. Don’t let him,” Kirk wrote in another tweet.

“Guns save lives,” he also wrote.

Former US Presidents, Barack Obama and Joe Biden have gone on X to condemn Kirk’s murd£r.
