While attempting to serve a warrant, an Okaloosa County Sheriff Deputy Shot and murdered Saturday. Timothy Price-Williams, 43, refused to come out of his townhome when deputies came at 9:30 a.m. to serve a domestic violence battery warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office Special Response Team was called in to negotiate Price-Williams’ surrender.
“Several deputies, including Corporal Ray Hamilton, entered an area behind the premises’ backyard fence to assist in establishing a safe perimeter,” said the sheriff’s office in a statement. “Once they were in position, shots were fired from within the house, striking Corporal Hamilton.”
The shot was fired around 12:30 p.m., and Hamilton was sent to HCA Fort Walton Beach-Destin Hospital, where he died shortly after 3 p.m.
Price-Williams still refused to leave his house. When he did, he “came out in a manner that forced another deputy to fire on him,” according to the sheriff’s office. Pierce-Williams was taken to the hospital for treatment of an arm gunshot wound before being processed into the Okaloosa County Jail on a charge of premeditated murder.
He is being detained without bond.
Hamilton worked for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for five years, according to WEAR.
