Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has assured that President Bola Tinubu’s $100,000 reward for each Super Falcons player will be fully delivered.
It will be recalled that the president made the pledge after the team won their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco on July 26. The package also included $50,000 for each technical crew member, three-bedroom apartments in Abuja, and national honours for the players.
Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade had recently said the players were yet to receive the promises or match bonuses.
According to New Telegraph, responding in an interview, Olopade said all tournament bonuses have been paid except for “one or two” players with banking issues, and that Tinubu’s pledges will be honoured in full.
He added that plans for the Abuja apartments are in progress, with talks ongoing between the Ministry of Housing and the Renewed Hope Homes initiative.
