Nigeria

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have secured a place in the semi-final of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket tournament in Cote d’Ivoire, following a commanding 83-47 victory over Cameroon. The quarter-final clash took place at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan.

The result marks D’Tigress’ sixth consecutive semi-final appearance in the continental competition, continuing an impressive streak that dates back to 2013.

Nigeria began the game in blistering form, outscoring Cameroon 21-9 in the first quarter and maintaining control to lead 41-29 at halftime. The third quarter proved decisive, with D’Tigress dominating both ends of the court to score 25 points while restricting their opponents to just two. The final quarter saw the Nigerian side ease to victory, closing the game with a 36-point margin.

Amy Okoronkwo led the scoring with 18 points, while Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi added 12 points apiece to seal the win.

D’Tigress will now face Senegal in the semi-final scheduled for Saturday, August 2, as they continue their campaign for a record-extending fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket title.
