Nigerians react to trending video of Nigeria’s Fire Service boss’s convoy

A video showing the convoy of the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service FFS, Olumode Adeyemi, driving through his home state of Kogi has sparked widespread criticism from Nigerians on social media.

The video which has since gone viral, showed a convoy of FFS-red emergency vehicles, including Toyota pickups, SUVs, outrider motorcycles, support vans, and black SUVs, moving along highways and local roads. 

The video also shows security men in black suits and red ties guarding a red SUV as the convoy slows before arriving at a crowded event venue. The Fire Service then boss alighted from the SUV to a throng of cheering locals who gathered for a thanksgiving to celebrate him since he was appointed into office in July 2025.

The video has since elicited reactions from Nigerians with many condemning him for going around in such a large convoy when many of the country’s stations in different states lack functional operational vehicles.
