Nigerians took to social media to react as President Tinubu today September 2, recalled the DG of NTA, Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, days after he appointed Rotimi Pedro as the director-general of NTA.
On August 20, the Presidency released a statement announcing Pedro as the new DG of NTA while Stella Din was announced as executive director of news.
However in a statement released this evening, Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, announced the reversal of this appointment and reappointment of Dembos as DG of NTA.
Onanuga said Dembos was appointed DG of the TV network by President Tinubu in October 2023.
‘’President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the recall of Mr Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who briefly vacated the post following some management changes in the agency.
He will now return to complete his three-year tenure.
The President similarly directed the recall of Mr Ayo Adewuyi, the Executive Director of News, to complete his three-year tenure, which ends in 2027.
Adewuyi was appointed by President Tinubu in 2024.”
Onanuga added that the new directive effectively reversed the previously announced appointments of a director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises.
Meanwhile Nigerians have taken to social media to react to this development with some pointing out the reversal of the appointment few days after it was made, isn’t good.
