It all started with one seemingly harmless tweet about astrology.
R&B star SZA posted,
“Mercury retrograde.. don’t take the bait lol silly goose.”
No names were mentioned, no direct shade thrown. But the timing? Very suspicious.
Just hours before, Nicki Minaj had been on X dragging Top Dawg Entertainment president Punch — calling him a “tiny d**k executive” and blaming him for online bullying. So when SZA, who is signed to that same label, tweeted her retrograde message, Nicki didn’t take it lightly.
Nicki Minaj exploded into a full-blown Twitter war.
The rap icon took it personally and clapped back hard, turning SZA’s retrograde comment into a direct trigger. What followed was a barrage of insults, accusations, and one of the wildest celebrity Twitter threads we’ve seen in a while.
Nicki fired shots immediately:
“Wait. Does SZA think she’s more successful than me? Lol yall catch me up pls.”
“SZA if every song you’ve ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn’t even miss you. I’ve been to countries that never heard of you.”
She didn’t stop there.
Nicki mocked SZA’s appearance, vocal style, and even her freckles:
“How you remember exactly where every freckle go?”
“Bitch looking & sounding like she got stung by a bee.”
The rapper also accused SZA of “yodeling with autotune,” botting tweets and streams, and dragged her into an unrelated legal battle with repeated hashtags like #JusticeForDemoree and #DepositionPerez.
In between the chaos, she added:
“Boo I’m an icon. You’re not. The end.”
“Sounding like a f**king dead dog.”
Nicki even implied that if not for this “retrograde tweet,” she wouldn’t have gone off — but since SZA did post it, it was game on.
