Mutilated bodies of 6 young girls reportedly discovered on farmland in Abia community

Mutilated bodies of six young girls were discovered on a farmland in Akirika Ukwu, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State.

The shocking incident was brought before the Abia State House of Assembly during Tuesday’s plenary by the member representing Ukwa East Constituency, Hon. Lewis Chinemerem Obianyi, as a matter of urgent public importance.

Obianyi informed lawmakers that the mutilated bodies were discovered on Monday, March 23, 2026, dumped in a community farmland, sparking widespread fear and panic among residents.

Hon. Obianyi described the k!llings as barbaric and disturbing, noting that the development has disrupted farming activities and normal life in the area.

He alleged that the act bore the hallmarks of ritual k!llings and urged the Assembly to take immediate steps to ensure justice for the victims.

The lawmaker further called on relevant security agencies to launch a thorough investigation, track down the perpetrators, and bring them to justice without delay.

Reacting to the development, the Abia State House of Assembly unanimously condemned the heinous act, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to public safety.

The House urged the Abia State Government to direct all heads of security agencies in the state to intensify efforts in uncovering those behind the k!llings.

Lawmakers also emphasized the need to strengthen security surveillance across communities, particularly in rural areas, to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The Assembly reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, while calling on members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
