Mum-of-three di£s after drinking ‘poisoned’ margarita cocktail on restaurant date

A mum-of-three has tragically did two years after drinking a margarita cocktail that was allegedly contaminated with “industrial cleaner”. Holly Hill, 30, had been on a Valentine’s Day date at a Mexican bar in 2023 when she sipped the margarita. Just moments after trying the drink, Holly became sick and rushed to the bathroom.  “Her mouth was on fire, and she knew something wasn’t right,” her mum, Kelly Hunter, told News 9. “She immediately jumped up and ran to the bathroom, started throwing up, started rinsing her mouth out with water.”  Her family claimed Holly’s second margarita that night contained “industrial cleaning solution”. The alleged harsh chemical caused so much damage to Holly’s throat and oesophagus that she was required to undergo several procedures for two years. Her mum said that the “hole in her oesophagus wasn’t healed, but it was a bit better and not as inflamed”. Holly had to be tube-fed and was preparing for a swallow study. However, following complications, Holly sadly passed away last Thursday, Oct. 23. Just days before her de@th, Holly had undergone another surgery, but her condition suddenly worsened. “As they were trying to get her ready to transport her, they lost her pulse,” her mum said. A tribute to Holly, a beloved teacher at Elgin Public Schools, read: “For the past two and a half years, while continuing to teach and care for her family, Holly faced a long and difficult medical journey.” A teacher at her school called the tragic loss “unimaginable” and said in a statement: “Holly was a dedicated teacher, Elgin Alumni, and beloved mother and wife.” Holly’s family believes Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill in Elgin, Oklahoma, is responsible and sued them before reaching a confidential settlement earlier this year. Her mum, Kelly, said: “We want them to be held accountable for taking my daughter’s life; because they did. It might have been a long fight, but ultimately, they are the cause.” Authorities have now opened a criminal inquiry. Acting Elgin Police Chief Ralph Parsons said the department, working with the Comanche County District Attorney, asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to take over, The Sun reports. State investigators “will initiate an initial inquiry into this matter and will be assisted by the Elgin Police Department,” Parsons said. While the restaurant hasn’t yet commented on Holly’s de@th, they shared a post on social media in May 2023. They wrote: “We are very sorry for what happened during these 10 years we have never had a situation like this, a situation that should not have occurred in the first place.” Holly’s family are still determined to get justice. “The number one thing that we really want at this point is we want people to be aware of what happened at that restaurant and to quit supporting them,” Kelly said. The post Mum-of-three dis after drinking ‘poisoned’ margarita cocktail on restaurant date appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
