A video showing the moment a police officer tried snatching the camera-enabled glasses of a driver during a stop and search has made the rounds on social media. The officers who were stationed on the road had stopped the driver to search it and as the driver brought out his car papers for inspection, one officer immediately spotted the camera-enabled glasses and tried to grab it from the driver’s face.
‘’Why did you put us on camera? why did you put on your camera? You are ‘cameraing’ a police officer? Remove it!” the officer shouted
The driver immediately challenged the officer’s order and this led to a scuffle between them.
‘’Oga you cannot take my glasses? what have I done? what have I done wrong? I cannot wear my glasses again?” the driver asked
The victim claimed he was held by the officers and was only allowed to go after he gave them N200, 000.
Reacting to the video, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police is looking into this already. He retweeted a post from the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, where he stated that Nigerians are allowed to film officers on duty.
