Missing one-year-old girl found d3ad inside soakaway in Niger state

A one-year-old girl, Amina, who was declared missing in Anguwar Makera Paiko community in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State has been found d3ad. 

Her lifeless body was discovered in a soakaway on Friday morning, May 23, 2025, after hours of intense searching by her distraught parents and concerned residents of the community. 

Amina was reported missing on Thursday evening between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. 

According to witnesses, Amina’s mother went to a naming ceremony with her in the community. At some point during the ceremony, between 6:30-7pm, the mother went to get a sachet of water to give to the baby. Upon her return, the child was nowhere to be found.

Immediate efforts were made by family members and guests to locate the child within the venue, and the search proved abortive.

The incident has left the entire community in mourning, with residents expressing disbelief.
