A wave of shock swept through Hotoro Maraba in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday, December 15, following a violent incident at a mosque during the early hours of the morning.
According to local accounts, a young man allegedly attacked and k!lled an Adhan caller while prayers were about to begin. The victim, identified as Malam Kasim, was said to be calling the Adhan for the Asuba dawn prayer inside the mosque when the suspect reportedly slit his throat.
Eyewitnesses said the assault happened within the mosque premises, leaving worshippers and residents of the area deeply shaken. The sudden violence disrupted the usually calm early morning atmosphere and triggered panic across the community.
In the aftermath of the attack, angry youths in the neighbourhood reportedly descended on the suspected assailant. The situation quickly escalated, and the suspect was k!lled at the scene in what was described as a reprisal attack.
The victim’s daughter, Maryam Kasim, confirmed the tragedy, describing the scene her family encountered at the mosque.
“We discovered our father’s body in the mosque. There were clear signs of a struggle, and the entire community was thrown into fear,” she said.
Security operatives were later deployed to Hotoro Maraba to prevent further violence and restore order, as residents gathered in anger and disbelief over the twin deaths. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident as investigations are expected to begin.
