Lagos police command reacts to trending video of street urchins demanding money from commuter whose car ran out of fuel

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, says the command is set to take a decisive action against street urchins disturbing the peace of motorists in the state.

 

Adebisi stated this on X this afternoon while reacting to a trending video of a man who was being harassed by street urchins at Ogolonto area by Justrite supermarket, Ikorodu in September. According to a witness who recorded the video, the motorist ran out of fuel while driving, He parked his car by the roadside to get some fuel from a nearby fuel station, Shortly after he returned, the street urchins emerged and demanded that he gave them money before leaving the area.

 

Reacting to the video, Adebisi via her X handle wrote;

‘’The Lagos State Police Command is aware of the situation regarding street urchins harassing motorists, and decisive action is already underway.

The Commissioner of Police has directed all tactical units across the state to intensify both foot and vehicular patrols in order to make the streets safer for all residents.

 

Residents are strongly encouraged to continue cooperating with the Police by providing timely and useful information that can assist ongoing security operations.”
